Dr. Sabesan Yoganathan is currently an Associate Professor (tenured) within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John's University. Dr. Yoganathan graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Chemistry, specializing in biological chemistry. He then moved to Western Canada to pursue his Ph.D. degree at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Prof. John Vederas. After completing his Ph.D., he joined the research group of Prof. Scott Miller at Yale University for his postdoctoral training, and then joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John's University. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Natural Products Drug Discovery, Infectious Diseases, and Chemical Biology. Dr. Yoganathan teaches various science courses to students in B.S. BioMedSci, B.S. Nursing, Pharm.D., and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) programs at St. John's University. Dr. Yoganathan was awarded a prestigious American Chemical Society Teaching Award for his contribution to university teaching.
